Suffolk Villages Festival
Essex Baroque Orchestra was founded in 1986 and has been the resident ensemble of the Festival since its inception. With its mixture of professionals, music teachers, students and experienced amateurs, it is one of the most experienced and accomplished period-instrument orchestras of its type. It frequently works with distinguished soloists and with choral societies around the region. Although normally a Baroque orchestra, using copies of instruments suitable for the music of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, it uses Classical instruments for the music of Haydn, Mozart and their contemporaries. Its regular leader is Judy Tarling, a noted expert on early music and historical performance.
